Are They Losing Interest?

Something has felt different lately and you cannot tell whether you are reading too much into it — are they pulling away, are they just stretched thin, or are they losing interest? This reads what has changed against how things usually are between you, and gives you one gentle way to bring it up.

What this looks at

  • How time together, warmth and the small things compare with the way things usually are between you.
  • How long the change has lasted, whether it comes and goes, and whether it lines up with something going on in their life that you already know about.
  • What has shifted on your side, and whether the two of you have been able to talk about it.

Worrying that someone you are close to has gone quiet can sit heavily, and noticing a change is not overreacting. Nothing here is a judgment of you or of your partner. If any of this feels bigger than a conversation, it is worth talking to someone you trust, or to someone whose job it is to help.

This reading is an interpretation of the change you describe — not a fact about your partner, not a forecast for your relationship, and not advice. Read the disclaimer.

How this reading works

This reading compares how things are between you now with how they usually are, using only what you have noticed yourself. Your answers cover three kinds of signal: whether your partner still reaches for time together; how warm and present they are when you are together; and whether the small things, like remembering and following through, still happen, and who is doing most of the planning. It also asks how long the change has lasted, whether it comes and goes, whether it lines up with a pressure in their life you already know about, and what has happened when you brought it up — because those four things separate a rough stretch from a steady drift more than anything else does. Signals as usual means the pattern looks much like it did before. Some distance means something has changed in one place while something real is still showing up in another. Too early to read means there is not enough before-and-after yet. Quieter signals means the change has spread and lasted. Worth a real conversation means it has spread, lasted, and been hard to talk about. None of this knows what your partner feels or where things are heading. It reads a change, and offers one gentle way to bring it up. This reading works from what you tell it: it looks for patterns in your answers, it cannot see anything you did not describe, it does not know what anyone else is thinking, and it does not predict what happens next.

Questions people ask

  • Does this work whether it's a he, a she or they?

Yes — same questions, same reading. The page is written for anyone in a relationship with anyone, and nothing in the questions or the reading assumes a gender on either side.

  • Is this accurate?

It reflects the change you describe and what that shape often goes with. It does not know what your partner is thinking, why they have changed, or where things are heading. A reading taken after a busy month, or after a conversation, may look different from this one — that is the point of reading a change rather than a moment.

  • Is this a quiz or a calculator?

It is a reading rather than either. There is no right answer to find and no number at the end: you describe how things are between you now next to how they usually are, the reading sorts that into one of five patterns, and it gives you one thing you could say. Nothing here is graded, and no result is a better result than another.

  • Is it private?

Nothing you answer leaves your phone. The reading is worked out on your device, nothing about your partner is stored, and if you share the result, the card carries the reading's name and nothing else.

  • Is it stress, or are they losing interest?

This calculator cannot say which it is for any particular person, and it does not try. What it can do is look at the four things that usually tell them apart: how far the change spreads across time, warmth and the small things; how long it has lasted and whether it comes and goes; whether it lines up with something in their life you already know about; and whether it can be talked about at all. A narrow, recent change with a known pressure behind it looks very different from a broad one that has held for months with nothing behind it and no way to raise it.

  • Should I check their phone or ask their friends?

No. This reading works from what you have noticed yourself, and nothing here asks about your partner's phone, messages, accounts or whereabouts, because those say little that is reliable and cost a lot of trust. The one step this offers is a conversation, because that is the only thing that tells you what has not been said.
